Relationship Between My Organism and Group Members’ Organisms - Post 6

The plant, Callholy E.Y. is the producer in the food web. The herbivore, Sciurus gibb, feeds on the producer while the other herbivore, Fortis aithusa, depends on the fungus, Fistulae viverepetram, for food. The fungus, which is a decomposer, breaks down the dead matter which tends to accumulate due to the slow nutrient cycling in the habitat. The carnivore, Strix vespertilio, is the secondary consumer in the food web and feeds on both herbivores. There exists predation whereby the carnivore is the predator of the herbivores in the food web. The omnivore, Albus superstes, is both a primary and tertiary consumer as it feeds on both the producer and the carnivore.  This is also an example of predation in the food web as the omnivore is the predator of the carnivore. Moreover, there exists an interspecific competition for food source between Albus superstes and Sciurus gibb as they both feed on the producer. All the organisms in the food web depend on the decomposer to break down the dead matter into simple substances during nutrient cycling.
